As we grow older, we learn to separate the wheat from the chaff and let the small things fall away, selecting what is useful or valuable and rejecting what is useless or worthless.
You learn that on any given day you will be held in high esteem by some and with low regard from others, even though you are the same person that day.
If you are in a continuous state of frustration trying to please everyone, trying to be liked by everyone, then you are doing yourself a great injustice. The thing to remember is that everyone you come in contact with is not going to like you. Love and respect yourself first. Everyone is on a journey and some are further along than others - don't try to hold anyone back and don't allow them to hold you back.
You touch the lives of all you meet. How they respond to that touch is beyond your control. You are going to learn from each personal encounter, be it good or bad.
Don't waste your time worrying about or trying to change the behavior of others, worry about your own behavior. Do harm to no one and do not speak unkindly about anyone.
Live the words of the bible and let the book remain open. Upon meeting people, the way you act may be the only bible that person will ever read.
Grandmother's Wisdom
Grandmother taught me we're all God's creatures,
and all have a lesson to teach.
Be wise and learn from your enemies,
just remember this little verse:
"Enemies are teaching you how NOT to act.
They're really a blessing, not a curse."
Once you realize and accept that you are on a journey - a personal and spiritual journey - no matter where you are or what you are doing...Your time is never wasted.
Be patient with life, we are all like green tomatoes ripening on the windowsill of life.
